A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF THAYER FROM THE PROVISIONS OF K.S.A. 12-1222, AND PROVIDING SUBSTITUTE AND ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS ON THE SAME SUBJECT.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF THAYER, KANSAS:

Section 1. In accordance with the authority granted to municipalities by Article 12, Section 5, of the Constitution of the state of Kansas, the City of Thayer, hereby elects to exempt itself and make inapplicable to the City of Thayer, the provisions as set out in this ordinance. The provisions of the above mentioned statute apply to the City of Thayer, but do not apply uniformly to all cities in Kansas.

Section 2. The City of Thayer specifically exempts itself from that portion of K.S.A. 12-1222 which requires that all members appointed to a Library Board shall be residents of the municipality. The Mayor for the City of Thayer, with the consent of the city council for the City of Thayer is hereby authorized to appoint members of the Thayer community which live outside the city limits of Thayer to the Thayer City Library Board.
